Riddle (What is this riddle about see if you can guess)

Come, oh come let us away- lower, lower everyday

Oh, what joy it is to race, to find the lowest place.

This the dearest law we know--"it is happy to go low."

Sweetest urge and sweetest will, "Let's go down lower still."

Hear the summons, night and day, calling us to come away.

From the heights we leap and flow, to the valleys down below.

Always answering to the call, to the lowest place of all.

Sweetest urge, and sweetest pain, to go low and rise again.

(From the book, "Hinds Feet on High Places")

Come, oh come, let us away—lower, lower every day
Oh, what joy it is to race, to find the lowest place
This the dearest law we know—“It is happy to go low.”
Sweetest urge and sweetest will, “Let’s go down lower still.”
Hear the summons night and day, calling us to come away.
From the heights we leap and flow, to the valleys down below.
Always answering to the call, to the lowest place of all.
Sweetest urge and sweetest pain, to go low and rise again.

Dance with the broken- 2005

I reach my hand out
ready to dance
but there is no one there to grab it--
I feel ugly, I feel used, I feel weak.

Soon, I begin to tap my toe...
and somehow my body begins it's own dance.
colorful, elaborate, I glide across the floor,
and I am not alone.

I dance with the broken,
who lost hope long ago.
I dance with the ugly, teaching them the beautiful parts.
I dance with the used, that they may feel worthy.
I dance with the weak, for in their joy, they will be made strong.

Our feet are one.
guided by the rhythm of our fears
we are lead into the brilliant dance of love,
unbridled in our true forms.
beautiful, free, wonderful.
Dont be afraid to dance with me!!

...It's almost done - 2004

Here it is,
It's almost done
it feels as if it's just begun.
I don't know what I'll do
I don't know how I'll mend
I don't know when I'll see you
or if you'll be my friend.
And so it comes, just as it is,
a day no longer here,
and through my trembling fingertips
are the memories of the year.
though this seems it is the end,
I will forget you never,
I wonder if our crazy times
will stay with you forever?

Now I know- 2004

Now I know how much I loved you
Now I know how much  you never knew,
Now I know the extent of what I've done
Now I know I need to let you go.

I know you're not the one for me...
but you showed me how to care for another
more deeply than I ever thought possible.

Now I know how the sun rose and set when I saw your face.
Now I know why I found you so amazing.
Now I know why it took so long to know
Now I know forever lies elsewhere.

You taught me how to love
      even though you never knew.
You meant the most to me
and I freely gave you my tender heart.

Now I know why it's so hard
Now I know why thoughts linger on you.
Now I know why I loved you
Now I know why I miss you!!

Chains of vines - 2005

Constantly i'm stuck between lines
meant to make me go astray.
I'm entwined in the chains of vines-
but somehow, I know I'll be okay.
Tender wind nips at my ears
I feel like giving up,
the fight raging in my fears
I wish the Lord to take this cup.

Untitled- 2005

Awaiting,
upon the soft edges of existance.
Hello again, How are you?

(The sea shouts to the sky, blasting foam and salt from it's depths-- Awakening answers from my soul)

I'm collapsing, yet again, down to Your feet I bring my face.

Headstrong, and in control- I give up the reigns- completely to You!

Free me of the confusion
the clouds covering up my veiw.
Take away these storms,
that that thunder and rattle my bones.

You are the peace that  calms so many fears,
so much brokeness and tears.

Restore to me my vision,
come near to me.
Rescue my soul that is ill,
sick with  the mess it has made.

I want to be completely yours--
in every shape and every way!

"Rain Child dancing" For Lydia (written in 2005)

Rain Child dancing-
Free as can be
Catching the shifting winds
Colliding with the waves
Come, freedom, come
Catch her as she falls
Down into the depths
Of all that she regrets
Come, oh freedom come,
Wipe away the tears
Replace the rust for gold
And hold her to your side.

Erase away the ugliness
Clogging beautiful eyes
Cleanse the broken soul
Mend the dirty hems.
Come, oh healer, come
And kiss the wounds away
Never say goodbye, and
hold her as she cries
Come, oh healer, come
Find the filthy parts
And wash them clean as snow.

Make her new again, like a child.
Free to love, free to be in the arms of the King.

Renew, rebuild, rebirth-
The brutality of gnashed teeth-
Blow away like wishes in the breeze.
Far from all she knows
Allow her to fall,
If it’s into your arms
Come, oh Lover, come
And nurse a bleeding heart,
Come, oh Lover, come
And love her every part.

"Life is too short"

Why can we not ever dive in and expect to fall?
What are we so afraid of?
Someone seeing  all your flaws,
knowing your history,
healing your wounds?
Why is it so hard to be vulnerable?
To be beautiful?
To be real?
Why must we complicate the truth with lies,
Redeem Satisfaction with pride?
Life is too short my friends, too short!
Instead, why don't we try to say "why not"
Dive in and expect to fall, and that's OK!
To stand unafraid of being vulnerable,
unafraid of beauty, that is so bright in you.
To be ourselves, without a measuring stick comparing you and me!
To be honest, even if it is the most painful thing!
To be satisfied, without making others feel worthless!
that would be a long-lived life!
That would be worth living for!

"Paper and Color"

Paper laying white,
Open canvas,
Waiting to be found.
Colors surround and shimmer
Waiting to let go.
Together we dance,
Unafraid of the romance,
Together we collapse
Ready anytime, now.
I am ready to be yours
If you are ready to be mine,
Maybe together we can shine
Just paper and color, entwined.

"Spirit"

I want to see my spirit wildly,
Dance in the breeze
I want to see my spirit crazily,
Laugh out loud with ease,
I want my spirit fanatically,
To love all that it sees.
Freely I release you, spirit
Fly away free
Sweetly I urge you to
Let yourself be
You, are all you will ever have
You are all you will ever need
So, soul, love yourself entirely
And you will truly SEE!

"Jars of self" (the bad grammar is meant to represent imperfection)

Versions of myself I have put in jars,
On a shelf for safe keeping,
Hoping one day to reopen them and be refreshed
Because there is something about this self I despise.
Contentment lies within the lines
And the glass is ready for the breaking.
Do I dare open it and risk the learning,
The moving on, the going forward, the growing up
Or do I hoard the memories, the visions of myself I hold onto dear?
I give up
I give up the longing
I give up the yearning to be happy
What is happy?
Why can’t I feel it?
Because I am not totally free,
I am not totally lost in He who has made those selfs, in those jars
That hold this clay together in His caring hands,
Because I have not given myself away to be loved,
By a love that keeps on loving no matter the person I become.
